Bobo

Dennis  Haysbert is a skilled actor and producer, I believe that this photo of Dennis Haysbert is a perfect match to describe Bobo. Bobo is Walter's business partner, their main goal is to find the money to build a liquor store in town and be extremely wealthy. Bobo appears to have similar unrealistic dreams as his partner Walter but the only difference between these two character is that Bobo is an intellectually impaired individual just as his name describes it.

Unfortunately, Bobo looses his life time savings by providing it to Willy Harris who was the coordinator of the liquor store plan. After hours waiting for Willi Harris, Bobo finds out that his friend and coordinator of the liquor store plan is gone with his savings and Walter's money, he runs to Walter's house to inform him about their financial loss. Both individual becomes frustrated and disappointed with no hope and dreams destroyed.

Travis Younger

Jaden Smith is a young successful actor, he has worked in many thriving films that has shaped him as an actor when it comes to acting skills and experiences. Jaden Smith was chosen to play Travis Younger for several reason but most importantly because of his ability to projects different characters from a diverse cultural backgrounds.

Travis Younger is the result of  eleven years of marriage between Walter and Ruth. He is a ten years old creature who lives with his parents, grandmother Mama and aunt Beneatha. He is the youngest character in this play, since his family is going to financial difficulties he earns some money by carrying grocery bags before school or even after school time. Another important fact in the life of this child is that he has no privacy in his own home, what I mean by this is that he has no bedroom, just a sofa in the living room for him to sleep.

Joseph Asagai

Marques Houston is a singer and a actor, his acting career has been evolving through time, one of my favorites movies is You Got Served in which Marques Houston portrayed an individual full of energy to accomplish all his goals and the importance he provides to the African American heritage.

I chose Marques Houston to be Joseph Asagai because he has that dramatic looking and I strongly believe he would do an excellent job portraying Mr. Asagai.

Joseph Asagai is a Nigerian man with outstanding virtues, polite, respectful, intellectual, charismatic and optimistic are the adjectives that best describe him. Joseph plays an important role in Beneatha Younger's life for two reasons, one is that Beneatha And him are deeply in love, second they share educational interests and both are devoted to African Heritage.



Karl Lidner

Billy Crystal is one of my favorite actors of all times, he is  charismatic and very talented actor therefore I believe he would do a excellent job by playing Karl Lidner.

Karl Lidner is the chairman of the committe in Clybourne Park which is the place where Mama has bought a house for a less expensive price. This character is the only white man that appers in A Raisin in the Sun play, He seems to be a very educated and professional man, as a result Karl Lidner is the carrier of unfriendly news directed to the Younger's Family.  

George Murchinson

Tyrese Darnell Gibson was chosen to play this satire character because of his cocky appearance and his skills as an actor.

George Murchinsom is the most awful character throughout the play, he is full of arrogance and cockiness. He is a wealthy African American who pretends to have Beneatha as his lovely, quiet girlfriend, however Beneatha detest him and does not like his way of viewing the world.

In act2/Scene2 Beneatha and George are in the house while the family is packing everything to move.

Benatha: I'm trying to talk to you

George: We always talk

Beneatha: Yes and I love to talk

George: I know it and I don't mind it sometimes..I want you to cut it out. see- The moody stuff, I mean. I don't like it. you are a nice-looking girl..all over. That's all you need, honey, forget the atmosphere. Guys aren't going to go for the atmosphere-they are going to go for what they see. Be glad for that. Drop the Garbo routine. It does not go with you...........

George Murchinson is not interested in a womens' intellectual perspectives, he is interested in having a wonderful time with a decent girl with a nice body. Meaning that sexual pleasure is what it matter in his mind.

Lena Younger

Maya Angelou was a great actress, produces, director, poet and civil rights activist, I chose this actress to play the role of Mama because of her performance in the mini series Roots. Her outstanding job was so fascinating it caught my attention and complete devotion.

Lena Younger is the oldest character in the "A raisin in the sun", nurturing, passionate, caring, and strong are the adjectives that best describe her. she is the mother of Walter and Beneatha. her main concerns are maintaining her family together and also respecting each others perspective. Maya Angelou is the most perfect candidate to be Mama because her physical complicity matches Mama's image. Mama's strong personality would be well-projected by Maya because she would be easy influenced  personally by all the things that were happening at the time this play was written.

Mama: Oh—So now it’s life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom used to be life—now it’s money. I guess the world really do change . . .

Walter: No—it was always money, Mama. We just didn’t know about it.

Mama: No . . . something has changed. You something new, boy. In my time we was worried about not being lynched . . . You ain’t satisfied or proud of nothing we done. I mean that you had a home; that we kept you out of trouble till you was grown; that you don’t have to ride to work on the back of nobody’s streetcar—You my children—but how different we done become.

The quote above is relevant to Mama's personality, this relevant discussion occurred in Act1/Scene2. Mama's perspective about money is useless, she believes that freedom and happiness are even more valuable that money itself. This emphasis her constant preoccupation about keeping her family content by giving them the minimum necessary that they needed which was a house.

Beneatha Younger

Beneatha Younger is a extravagant, immature and revolving character in the raising in the sun, she is in her twenties, her body type is described as slim and she is not as beautiful as her sister in law. Megan Good is an American actress, the photo above was taken when she was in her early twenties, her physical appearance well-portrayed Beneatha's image. Megan Good participation in the movie You got served  convinced me that she was the perfect person to play Beneatha's role.
Beneatha is a character full of life and energy, a college student who is in search of  her identity, her way of finding it is by going back to her African roots and informing herself about facts. she also develops a sense of a independent feminine perspective in which she feels free of speaking her mind without realizing the norms of home.
For example, in Act1/scene 1 Beneatha is discussing with her mother about God.
Beneatha: Mama, you don't understand. It's all a matter of ideas, and God is just one idea I don't accept. It's not important. I am going out and be immoral or commit crimes because I don't believe in God. I don't even think about it. It's just that I get tired of Him getting credit for all things the human race achieves through its own stubborn effort. There simply is no blasted God-There is one man and it is he who make miracle!

Walter Lee Younger

Will Smith is a very skilled actor by this i mean he has the ability to act or perform different characters from comic to drama. I picked Will Smith because he has done a great job in many movies, specially in the pursuit of Hapyness, I strongly believe that he has all the emotional characteristics that best describe Walter Lee younger.

Walter Lee younger is a special character, he is 35 years old and is married to Ruth younger. this character has an insecure personality,  his dreams seem to be very large and unrealistic, a huge desire for luxurious materials and impulsiveness  is one of his virtues.

At the end of Act 2, Scene 2 Walter is having a conversation with his son about his plans.This

 important quote from the play is the perfect example that emphasis Walter's desire for money.

Walter: You wouldn’t understand yet, son, but your daddy’s gonna make a transaction . . . a business transaction that’s going to change our lives. . . . That’s how come one day when you ‘bout seventeen years old I’ll come home . . . I’ll pull the car up on the driveway . . . just a plain black Chrysler, I think, with white walls—no—black tires . . . the gardener will be clipping away at the hedges and he’ll say, “Good evening, Mr. Younger.” And I’ll say, “Hello, Jefferson, how are you this evening?” And I’ll go inside and Ruth will come downstairs and meet me at the door and we’ll kiss each other and she’ll take my arm and we’ll go up to your room to see you sitting on the floor with the catalogues of all the great schools in America around you. . . . All the great schools in the world! And—and I’ll say, all right son—it’s your seventeenth birthday, what is it you’ve decided? . . . Just tell me, what it is you want to be—and you’ll be it. . . . Whatever you want to be—Yessir! You just name it, son . . . and I hand you the world!
In this quote Walter lee Younger feel powerful and secure of himself because his mother had have given him the money to create the liquor store. In his Little tiny mind , Walter believes he can conquer anything and everything from day to night without even making sacrifices. his mind is full of fancy illusions that will lead him to lose whatever he has now.

Ruth Younger

   

I chose Beyonce Knowles an African American actress and singer for several reasons, in one of her recent movies "Obsessed" Beyonce did an outstanding job as a protagonist playing the role of a excellent wife.

In Raisin in the sun play, Ruth Younger is a beautiful woman about the age of thirty, she is married to Walter Lee Younger and have a son named Travis Younger as a product of their marriage. Beyonce Knowles is a beautiful actress in her early thirties, her physical characteristics are well defined meaning that she is not fat neither skinny so as Ruth is.
Ruth Younger is a responsible, harsh and sometimes lovely individual with a highly demanding personality, for example at the beginning of the first scene Walter And Ruth were having a discussion while Walter was trying to digest his breakfast. Ruth says druly but to hurt "There are colored men who do things" Walter's response is "No thanks to colored woman".
Ruth"s statement clearly make emphasis on how demanding and harsh she can be by putting her husband pride down to the floor.
